Alton John Prados

Alton John “Frenchie” Prados went to be with our Lord on June 7, 2012 at the age of 76. Alton was born in Loreville, Louisiana on July 20, 1935. He came to San Antonio in the early 1950's and joined the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he worked and then retired from VIA as a city bus driver after 43 years of service. He received numerous perfect driving citations during his employment with VIA. He was also a 15 year member of the Cajun French Music Association, De Fa Tras Chapter of San Antonio, Texas. His passions throughout his life were his family, weightlifting, dancing, singing and playing guitar. He passed his love of weightlifting, singing, dancing and playing guitar down to his children. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Arias Prados and son John Christopher Prados. He is survived by his son Alton Prados and wife Catherine, daughter Kathy Prados; granddaughter Kassandra Sayles; sister, Mildred Viator and husband Roy; brother, Clarence Prados and wife Marilyn; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary Service at 7:00pm. We will depart the funeral home at 9:30am on Thursday, June 14, 2012 to St. Philip of Jesus Catholic Church for a 10:00am Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
