Carmelo A. Monge Jr.

On Monday, August 10, 2020, Carmelo A. Monge Jr. loving Husband and Father, passed away at age 73. Carmelo was born on September 26, 1946 In San Antonio, Tx to Carmelo & Petra Monge. He attended Fox Tech High School where he was involved in different organizations including the national honor society. He also attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He worked for the airline industry for over forty years; He also owned a small family run business, which specialized in home interior decorating and upholstery.

On November 29, 1969, he married Alice Melinda Garza. They celebrated their 50th golden Wedding anniversary last fall. They had one son Carmelo A. Monge lll.

Carmelo was passionately devoted to his family. He also loved being creative and designing projects as a hobby. He was also an avid music lover and cook. In his retirement years, he became very involved in genealogy and was a member of a genealogy group. He was known for his kind and compassionate spirit.

Carmelo is preceded in death by his father, Carmelo, mother, Petra, and his sister Dolores. He is survived by his wife Alice Melinda, his son Carmelo, and his sisters Henrietta, Mary, and his brother Tommy. And many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at St. Philip of Jesus Catholic Church (142 E Lambert St., 78204). The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the Requiem Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. There will be a private burial at San Fernando II.
