

Celestino John Gutierrez graciously passed away into the arms of our Lord on February 15th, 2017. John was born March 9th, 1927 in San Antonio, TX to his mother Paulita Garza Gutierrez and his father Celestino Gutierrez. On December 15, 1944 he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He served during WWII and in 1951 he fought in operations against enemy forces in South and Central Korea in the Korean War. He earned numerous good commendation medals including: The Korean Service Medal, U.N. Ribbons, and the Asiatic - Pacific; Victory Medal. Upon his return he attended San Antonio College and worked for U.S. Civil Service, Kelly Air Field San Antonio, TX as a Government Service Airplane Mechanic as well as a Clerical IBM Operator for Printing and Mimeographing Co. beside his beloved wife Teresa he retired as manager and bookkeeper at Teresa's House of Beauty. He is survived by his loving wife Teresa D. Gutierrez, his sons: Ernest San Miguel, Robert G. San Miguel, and Josef San Miguel. He will be dearly missed by Martha Ramon and his grandchildren Teresa Alexander and Ashley Nunez. Also his granddaughters Robin San Miguel, Julia San Miguel, and Alyssa San Miguel including numerous great-grandchildren. He was a warm and generous man who will be greatly missed by family and friends. His family would like to express their sincere thanks to Father Brian Christopher, S. J. from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and also to Holy Savior Hospice Care. A celebration of his life will be held at Roy Akers funeral home on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 from 5-9pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the Funeral at 9:15 am on March 2nd, 2017 for mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 10:00am. Interment will take place at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:15 am.
