

Dora Lee Ramos, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, entered rest on December 3, 2013 at the age of 84. A native of San Antonio, she was born to Louis and Isabel Carvajal on August 6, 1929, during the Great Depression; youngest of six children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfredo R. Ramos; daughter, Dina Louise Ramos and is survived by children: Fred J. Ramos and wife Teresa, Debbie Martinez and husband Arnold, D’Annette Ramos Pesina and husband Manuel, Darlene M. Ramos and partner Vicki Huffman; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; 2 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. As a lifelong resident of San Antonio, she became an influence on many people as a community activist and a supporter of those in need. She was remarkable woman, not only did she raise a family of five children with her husband of near fifty years, she made the time to have a profound impact on San Antonio and Bexar County politics, as well as being actively engaged in the Democrat Party in State and National elections. Dora first became interested and involved in politics during the John F. Kennedy years and continued being active in the community and in politics up until her last days. As a hardworking and lifelong Democrat, Dora influenced, supported and had a profound impact on many aspiring candidates, volunteers and those wanting to learn from her. The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church prior to Mass. Private Burial Services will be held at a later date.
