

Ernest William Jahn, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all he met, passed away June 21, 2010 around 8:00AM at the VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 87. He was born on July 28, 1922 to Ernest and Pauline Jahn, both now deceased. He is also pre-deceased by one of two sisters, Dorothy Burke. Ernest grew up in San Antonio, Marble Falls, and Bryan, Texas at various times. He graduated from Harlandale High School, then served in the Navy in World War II in the Pacific. He was in Okinawa for the campaign, serving on a repair ship as a watchmaker and instrument tech. He went through many kamikaze air raids. After the war, he married Lillian Bailey, of Argyle, New York. They were married for 64 years at the time of his death. They have two children, Ernest W. Jahn, III of Corpus Christi, and Debra Davenport, who lived with him and Lillian in Kingsland, Texas. His son, Ernest III is married to Stephanie Jahn, and have two children, Rachel (husband David, great-grandson Julian) and Emerson (great-grandson Sebastian). He is also survived by a sister and brother in law, Pollydale and Russell Reinen, and their children, Rhonda Hampton (husband Dennis, nephews Randy, Garrett; niece Brooke), Russell (wife Tracy, nephew, Kyle; niece, Kasey), Cheryl Watson (nephews, Brennan, Paul John; niece Haley), and Kathy (husband Robert, nieces Amber and Emily). He is also survived by Dorothy Burke’s son, John Burke. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:00am at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers. Interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park.
