

Esperanza “Hope” Villanueva Lopez, 92, passed away November 20, 2014. She was born on June 7, 1922 in Carrizo Springs, TX to Cenobio and Felipa Villanueva and is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Severo R. Lopez, and daughter Consuelo. She is survived by children: Gloria Lopez, Bertha, Jose Acuna; grandchildren: Stephen Acuna, Adrian Acuna, Loretta and Mario Moreno, Krisna and Ian Dooley and several great-grandchildren. Esperanza was a proud graduate of Carrizo Springs High, San Antonio Durham Business College and Johnsons Beauty College. Before becoming a dedicated homemaker and Mother, Esperanza worked as a typist at Ft. Sam Houston and as a clerk at Leonard Funeral Home in Carrizo. While raising her daughters, she ran her own business from home as a licensed beautician, but later retired from Miller Curtain Company. Esperanza was an active member of the Guadalupana Society at St. Joseph (South San) Church, serving the society as President, Vice-President and Treasurer. She was a beautiful woman filled with love, class and the LORD. The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 5:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm. A 12:00 Mass will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church, on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 with a one-hour visitation prior to Mass. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
