Estefana Anita Matanane

Estefana Anita Matanane entered into eternal rest on April 5, 2016 at the age of 82, she was born in Mission, Texas on May 1, 1933 to Doroteo and Inez (Aguilar) Saenz. Estefana lived a life full of love and kind heartedness. She worked very hard taking care of all of her family and helping her husband run a very successful business for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francisco C. Matanane, her infant son Jesus Saenz Matanane, her Aunt Teresa S. Perez; and her niece Francisca Brooks.

She is survived by her children: Estefana A. Franco, Estella F. Munoz (Jose), Eduardo Farias (Janie), Frank S. Matanane, Elizabeth M. Shaw (William), Gerard S. Matanane, Rosa M. Thomas (Shayne), 27 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her cousin Candelaria (Jose) Garza and their children.

Estefana was a very selfless person. She was sure to provide delicious meals for everyone and anyone that came in her home. She enjoyed spending quality family time camping at various sites; something she is remembered for by generations of her loved one's. She also enjoyed testing her luck in different casinos, especially Las Vegas; and luck was something that played out in her favor. Estefana loved being amongst her Guamanian familia as they cooked and chatted for hours, setting up event after event. She valued her family and her friends, her most precious moments was when she was surrounded by all her loved ones. The lack of her presence will be felt by many for years to come.

The Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, April 18, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 2829 Ackerman Road Kirby, Texas 78219 and will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a one-hour open visitation at 10:30a.m. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
