Gloria M. Cruz

Gloria M Cruz at the age of 84 was called to be with our Lord and savior. On the 20th day of November 2023. She is survived by her daughter Terry (Simon) son Ralph (Carmen), grandchildren Jesse III(Erica), Marissa (Louis), Martin, Azzanete, Carlos, Benny. Great grandchildren Landyn, Adaline, Alicia, and baby Reign on the way. Siblings Jesse Martinez (Lola) and Anita Ramos.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Jesus E Cruz Sr., Son Jesse Jr, and grandson Christopher Cruz. Parents Simon and Teresa Martinez. Siblings Angelina, Alfredo, Miguel, Raul, Rodolfo, Eduardo, Antonio, and Vicente.

Gloria married the love of her life Jesus E Cruz Sr. Although she became a widow early into her marriage her heart belonged to Jesse. It has taken her 54 years to be reunited. She worked two jobs to provide for her family. From custodian, to bus attendant, cafeteria lady, retail management, and the mailroom at Saint Mary's University. Gloria enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Many family members were fortunate to have received these gifts. She'd go play bingo with her neighbor Yolanda Alizzi in hopes to hit those lucky numbers. At home she had a running game of dominoes. That index card with our names on it. Dominoes was serious business at the Cruz household. Truth be told Gloria never cut a break which is how her grandkids learned to count. Call it an inherited gene if you'd like. Now a new index card is made in heaven with her name, Jesse Sr., Jesse Jr, and Christopher Cruz. Watch out guys because she plays to win.

To San Antonio Inspire Hospice, Rose, PJ and Trish, Glorias nurses, there are no words to express our heartfelt gratitude. You engaged Gloria in conversation, you danced, you sang and brightened her day.

To los vecinos, the Alizzi, Manzanares, Monreal, Ornealas and Trevino families for visiting, bringing caldo, pan dulce and a smile to our hearts. You are the families who bind the neighborhood.

The Vara family you are a part of our family quilt.

The Cruz and Ponce Family have been immensely blessed to have had you in our lives.

Celebration of Life Mass will be on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 6:00pm at Church of the Blessed Sacrament located at 600 Oblate Dr., San Antonio, TX 78216. Burial to take place on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 10:00am at Delgado Cemetery 11091 Cassiano Rd., San Antonio, TX 78223

*Please note there will not be be a procession, we will meet at the cemetery.
