Mrs. Gloria Elvira Salazar né Tamez passed away on August 1, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 88. Gloria was born on April 7, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas to Jesus and Maize G. Tamez. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years John Salazar and son Noel Salazar. She graduated from Lanier high School in 1945. She married John Salazar her childhood sweet heart in 1950 and raised 5 children and her brother George J. Tamez. She is survived by her children: Carlos & Luisa Salazar, Elsa & Bill Cade, Edith & George Esparza, Eric Salazar, brother George Tamez, 9 grandchildren: Tamez (Frank), Christopher (Helen), Angela (Mike), Davina (Jason), Celenda (Albert), Cherise (Ted), Crystal, Stephen (Corina) & Kody, and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 9, 2016 at Roy Akers Funeral Home from 5-9 pm with a rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 10, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
