He is survived by his son, Jacob Anthony Cantu II; his mother, Amy A. Cantu Shedwin; stepfather, Theodore Shedwin; father, John E. Gatewood; sisters, Courtney R. Hargrove and Anntornette Shedwin; brother, Theodore Shedwin II; grandmother, Carol Samford; grandparents, George and Elizabeth Chandler; and numerous aunts and uncles as well as nieces and nephews.
Jacob had a passion for many things, most notably his love for gaming, anime, and comic books. He was an avid reader, always lost in the pages of a good book.
Jacob will be remembered for his warm heart, his sense of humor, and his deep love for his son and family. His absence will leave a hole in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
A visitation for Jacob will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205, followed by a prayer service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
