Jesse M. Castellano, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of his community, passed away on January 11, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on January 4, 1947, to Victor and Felipa Castellano.
Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Margie Castellano; his daughters Diane Castellano and Jessica Castellano; his sons Baldemar (Mona) Benavides, Jason (Cathy) Benavides, and Joey (Tina) Benavides; his siblings Victor Castellano Jr., Isabel Favela, Beatris (Valentine) Guzman, and Janie Jaquiz; his cherished grandchildren Josh Benavides and Stella Benavides, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Felipa Castellano, and his daughter Mari Cruz Benavides.
A proud and dedicated Marine, Jesse served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His service to his country was a source of great pride throughout his life.
Jesse was known for his love of life and the many passions he pursued. He enjoyed traveling, staying active, and taking on projects, whether as a handyman, a landlord, or building things with his hands. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros, and he especially enjoyed dancing polkas and playing both the guitar and the accordion. Jesse was a frequent visitor to the VFW, where he shared camaraderie and friendship with fellow veterans.
Above all, Jesse was a loving family man, deeply devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, and the joy he found in even the simplest things, like his beloved F150 truck.
Jesse’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of love, service, and laughter will continue to inspire his family and friends for generations to come.
A visitation for Jesse will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A rosary will occur Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 Grissom Rd, San Antonio, TX 78251. A graveside service will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 11:50 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
