
Born December 4, 1966 in Terre Haute, Indiana, she spent her early years in Brazil, Indiana and Indianapolis, Indiana. Following a family move, she graduated from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, Indiana in 1986.
Ms. McDonald, also known to family and friends as ‘Pete’, earned her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from the University of Texas, Austin.
She was a life-long advocate of human rights, animal rights, animal rescue efforts, women’s rights, urban planning, and ecological actions and strategies.
She is survived by her parents, Dr. Joyce Pell McDonald and Gordon McDonald of Von Ormy, Texas. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Al Thompson of Georgetown, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bergman of Spring Hill, Florida; and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Garver of Murrietta, California. Additional survivors include several cousins and encompass an extraordinary circle of dedicated and supportive friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Mary Christine Emmert Pell and Herschel Urtis Pell and her paternal grandparents Winifred Sutton McDonald and Elwood L. McDonald, all from Clay and Vigo Counties, Indiana; as well as her uncle Paul H. Pell of Brazil, Indiana.
Private and personal memorial services will be held in Von Ormy and Austin, Texas by family and friends.
