Maria L. Cortez, age 86, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Maria was born December 25, 1935 to Brigida Delgado and Manuel Vera. She attended Providence High School and worked at Kelly Air Force Base. She enjoyed bingo, traveling to Las Vegas, gardening, watching movies, listening to big band, went swing dancing, and eating steak while drinking a margarita on the side.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost 10 years, Felix R. Cortez Sr.; and her siblings; Johnny, Fidelia, Cisimira.
Maria is survived by her cousins, 2 in Dallas, 2 in San Antonio; her nephews and nieces; Diane Compton (Rick), Janie M. Gonzales (Danny), Debbie Martinez, Rachel Espinoza (†), Sandra Sambrano, Manuel Martinez Jr., Gilbert Martinez, and Joe Sambrano Jr.
A visitation for Maria will be held Monday, September 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 9:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul, 4222 SW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78227 with burial following at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
