Maria De Jesus Uvalle

Maria de Jesus Uvalle, 86, of San Antonio, Texas, went home to Our Lord on December 19, 2013. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 5, 1927 to Yndalecio and Gertrude Hinojosa. In 1947, she was married to Jesus Ismael Gutierrez, the father of her 6 children, until his passing in 1981. She went back to school and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1968, after her 6 children were born. She was married to Ignacio Uvalle in 1988.

She was a person of many talents, one of them being a professional seamstress. She was active with senior citizens in her church community and served as an assistant to the director of the Nutrition Center at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by son, Gene Raymond Gutierrez; daughter, Maria De Jesus; and a brother, Yndalecio Hinojosa, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Garcia and brother, Gerardo Hinojosa; her children, Gerardo John Gutierrez, Ismael Jesus Gutierrez, Mary Lamar Cancino, and Grace Ann Daniel. She has 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers.

The Mass service will be celebrated on Monday, December 23, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 4222 SW Loop 410. We invite you to follow the family in procession to San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd. for Graveside Service.
