With great sadness we announce the passing of Martina M. Medina, who entered eternal rest with the Lord on January 14, 2014. A native of San Antonio, she was born on January 30, 1926. She was a devoted mother to three children: Maria Christina, Eluterio Jr., and Marcella; loving grandmother to Nigel (Stephanie), Colin (Amy), Marisa (John), and Roberto (Jenny); as well as a great-grandmother to Ian, Zane, Alec and Everett who brought her great joy; also survived by her siblings and other relatives. Martina was especially grateful to friends, volunteers, and caregivers who brought her a daily dose of cheer and graciously served her, in her later years. She considered all of her friends, close or otherwise, to be family. She had an infectious laugh that matched her smile, which was a true reflection of her genuine happiness. She was a very caring person that humbly served the Lord and His children. If her smiling face looks familiar, she may have greeted you during her many years of service at Luby’s Cafeteria. She loved cooking, sewing, dancing, socializing, and traveling. She was hardworking and outgoing, had a generous spirit, valued integrity, and was dedicated to praying for others. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends and family at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, to celebrate her life with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014 to celebrate a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, with celebrants Fr. Arthur Flores, OMI, and Fr. Richard Hall, OMI. We extend our gratitude to those who gave her love and support. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery II.
