Mary Ann Black

Mary Ann Black entered eternal rest on May 17, 2016 in Lavernia, TX, at the age of 87. She was born to Linus and Florence Hatch on September 10, 1928 in San Benito, TX, and now reunites with her parents; husband, Herbert Lee Black; and sisters, Dorothy Parkins and Helen Brown. She is survived by her children: Glenn Black (Martha), Jeff Black (Liz), Jan Boatright, Rick Black (Lisa); grandchildren: Ryan Boatright, Addison Black, Carson Black, Jamison Black and Madison Black. Mary Ann spent her childhood years in Rio Hondo and the Rio Grande Valley. She attended Texas State University in the late 1940’s where she received her Bachelors in Business Administration. She was a faithful employee to Education Service Center Region 20 for over 30 years before retiring. Her favorite activities included dancing, especially line dancing, and sewing. She had a passion for traveling, and traveled extensively after retirement. Her most precious memories were spent with her loving children and grandchildren. The family will be receiving guests at Roy Akers funeral home in San Antonio, TX, 515 North Main Avenue, on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 8:00a.m. with a chapel service at 8:45 a.m. Services will continue at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, TX at 2:00 p.m.
