Minerva M. Cantu

Minerva M. Cantu, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, entered into rest on August 3, 2011 at the age of 84. She was born on August 10, 1926 to parents Ramon and Maria Muniz. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Minerva was a hard-working seamstress for most of her life, skillfully creating everything from clothing and uniforms to drapery. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, David C. Cantu; daughter Rebecca Cantu; brothers, Robert, Arturo and Gilbert Muniz; sisters Dina Lopez and Mary Ann Muniz. Minerva is survived by her children, Annie Marie Tank and husband Lee, Elizabeth Gatlin and husband Johnney, David C. Cantu, Jr., and Debbie Todd and husband Buddy; grandchildren, Robert J. Murphy, Stephanie Cantu, Gary David Cantu, Elizabeth Dawn Morgan, Rosanne Richerson, Elliott Richerson; great-grandchildren, Sarah Murphy, Noah Murphy, Micah Murphy, Andrew Todd and Lyric Morgan; step-grandchildren, Kristopher Todd, Jeremy Todd, Amanda de Los Santos and Ashley Todd; step-great-grandchildren, Sydni J. Todd, Elizabeth J. Gomez and Josiah Gomez; sisters, Adela Garza and Esther Vasquez; brother, Richard Muniz; and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2011 with a Funeral Service to be held the following morning at 9:30 a.m., August 9, 2011 at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, in the Chapel of Prayers. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery III. The family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to all of the professionals at Golden Estate Rehabilitation Center and VITAS for their kind help.
