Ramiro Reyes Belmares

Ramiro R. Belmares (Ram as he was known to many) was born on April 23, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas to Isabel Reyes & Baldemar Belmares. He was the oldest of eight children. Ramiro married Herlinda Martinez in April 12, 1953 and together, they raised five children; Daryl, Teresa, Gerard, Margaret and Dolores.

Ram was a hardworking man who loved his country, having served in the 138th military police company during WWII. He was honorably discharged on June 17, 1947. He worked at Friedrich’s Air Conditioning as a welder and shop foreman until he retired in 1991.

Ram had a strong and unconditional love for his family, cats, and his dog Buddy and was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Ramiro is survived by his wife ,of 64 years of marriage, Herlinda Belmares, children; Daryl Belmares, Teresa Raymond, Gerard Belmares, Margaret Belmares and Dolores Belmares, Grandchildren; Casandra Gurbanov, Anna Alaniz, Robert Alcorta Jr., Margeaux Alcorta, Lauren Tovar, Victoria Belmares, Dominic Belmares, Austin Bellamy Belmares, Daryl Belmares Jr., Isaiah Belmares, Olivia Belmares, Great Grandchildren; Gael Gurbanov, Rocco Gurbanov, Joshua Alcorta, Addison Alcorta, Penelope James Barrera, Nathaniel Buentello, Siblings; Lucia Lopez, Isabel Vasquez, Anita Gonzalez, Polo Belmares, Edward Belmares, Fernando Belmares, Jimmy Belmares and his beloved dog and loyal friend, Buddy Belmares.

On behalf of Ramiro’s family , we would like to thank Dr. Edgar Carretero & The Staff at Audie Murphy VA Community Living Center, who lovingly took care of our father for six months, while he was in their hospice care.

Services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, on Monday, June 26, 2017 with a visitation starting at 8:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 9:00 a.m. follow by a 10:00 a.m. Mass and Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the VA Fisher-House.
