

Rene “Rocky” Ramirez, beloved father, grandfather and brother, entered rest on January 8, 2011 at the age of 63. A native of San Antonio, he was born to Evaristo B. and Teresa Ramirez on August 15, 1947. He graduated from Fox Tech High School, and received an Associate Degree from St. Philip’s College in Applied Science. Rene honorably served in the U.S. Army and retired from Civil Service with Kelly AFB after 26 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Veronica and wife, Cecilia. He is survived by their 5 children: Monica R. Guerra and husband, Pete, Roslyn G. Ramirez, Irene Ramirez Hernandez, Darlene R. Miranda husband, Roger, and Andrew Joseph; 12 grandchildren; brothers: Lee, Gerry and Edward Ramirez; sister, Emma Ayala; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Rene was part of the San Antonio CYO City Championship Basketball Team and will be remembered by his family for his avid sportsmanship and dedication to the Judson Rockets and San Antonio Spurs. He also had a passion for music, good barbeques, days at the river and being with loved ones. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2011 with a Rosary being recited at evening at 7:00 p.m.. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011 for a 9:00 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
