Richard G. Guerra, age 70, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Richard was born in San Antonio, Texas to Lillie G. and Angel Guerra. Richard attended Texas A&M and University of Pennsylvania and went on to use his Master’s degree to dedicate his life to helping anybody he came in contact with. He taught Math until his last moments, his last school being Southside High School, but he taught all over San Antonio. Richard was always willing to help people learn, no matter the situation. He would help kids in poorer neighborhoods get supplies for school, make sure they had clothes, and even pay for lunches if needed so they wouldn’t go without during school. He would tutor anybody who needed help for free, no matter the age. There was never a problem that he couldn’t solve and help you understand how to get the answer. Richard also helped out with anything school related in his spare time, even volunteering to help the school district by driving buses. He also had a sweet tooth that he was known for among family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by both of his parents; his grandmother, Juanita Z. Vasquez; and his brothers, Jerry and Angel. He is survived by his sister, Rosemary Rojas (Alfred); his brother, Johnny Guerra (Rachel); his nieces, Debra Gamez, Amanda Guerra, Jessica Guerra, and Kimberly Guerra; his nephews, Jerry Pena and Alfred Justin Rojas; as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM rosary at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N Main Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78205.
