Robert (Bob) Howard Topoleski, 69, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord peacefully on January 29, 2013 at home surrounded by his family with his beloved dog, Mokie at his side. He was unable to overcome renal failure associated with cancer and diabetes. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 4, 1943 to Thaddeaus (Teddy) and Bernice Hoerman Topoleski. Bob graduated Highlands High School and attended San Antonio College. Besides being an electrical engineer, he was extremely interested in all aspects of technology and earned Microsoft Certification in all areas. As a security project manager, Bob was on location at quite a few interesting places including Brooke Haven National Laboratory, Borneo, Greenland, Japan and Mexico. He enjoyed wildlife, fishing, cooking, growing vegetables, playing poker, watching old westerns on TV, and Jimmy John sandwiches. His pet birds and dogs brought much joy to his life. Among other things, Bob was an expert garage organizer, collector of prized objects, male fashion consultant, personal trainer, Lazy Boy recliner tester, pickle connoisseur, and a great debater. He experienced a life changing event while facing death which he told us about and he bravely travelled the inevitable journey we all must take to the “other side”. His advice to us all was that love is the most important thing in life-love of family, friends and even strangers. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob is survived by his wife of 29 years, Hazel Goodspeed Topoleski; daughters and spouses, Robyn and Jon Waite, Tanya and Mark Thompson; sons, Rodney Topoleski and Robert T. Topoleski; stepdaughter and spouse, Laura and Mark Wolek; grandchildren: Hilary and Hanna Waite, Ky, Brooke and Hunter Topoleski; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Bob will always be remembered for the love and dedication he had for his family and keen sense of humor. He will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main. A Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 also at the funeral home, with Pastor Sanford Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Oddfellows City Cemetery, South Pine and Paso Hondo Streets. Please visit www.funerariadelangelroyakers.com for online tributes.
