

Rosendo “Roy” S. Hernandez entered eternal rest in San Antonio, Texas on October 30, 2014 at the age of 91. He was born to Francisco and Ricarda Hernandez on December 17, 1922 in Spofford, Texas, and is preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 50 years, Lorenza Hernandez, and step-daughter Janie Ayala. Roy is survived by his stepdaughter, Maria Anita Zepeda; 5 siblings, 3 generations of grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Roy proudly served our country during the WWII conflict and was a recipient of numerous medals including: Purple Heart , American Theatre Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with 2 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Victory Ribbon, 3 over Seas Service Bars, and Good Conduct Medal. He had a passion for gardening and home remodeling. The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. for an 11:00 Mass of Resurrection at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
