

Walter Francis Collier, age 74, born April 26, 1936 to John and Pearl Collier in Little Rock, Arkansas died of pancreatic cancer on March 18, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Presas Collier; sons, Vincent John Collier (Rexanne) and John Louis Collier (Cassie Singleton); sister, Betty Brown (Joe); brother-in-law Rudy Presas (Bertha), sister-in-law Aurora Presas Macon; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by an extended family of nieces, nephews, and family friends. Walter was raised in Galveston, Texas and received his degree in Electronics from the University of Houston. In 1961, he moved to San Antonio where he worked at Kelly AFB and was involved in the design of the C5, the Air Force’s largest cargo plane. He achieved many awards and meritorious citations for his work until his retirement in 1988. He was an active member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, A.F. & A.M. 1160 for many years. He had many interests: fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and reading, especially about ancient history. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and sharing the fruits of his garden. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, the USO, or the Disabled American Veterans Organization in recognition for their service to our country.
