

She was born on January 4, 1939, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Frances Reipen, and was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Benny Haynes.
She graduated from high school in Theodore, Alabama, and went on to attend James Daugherty Nursing School in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she earned her RN. She began her career at Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi, where she spent many years as a trauma nurse in the emergency room. She was also instrumental in helping to establish the hospital’s burn unit.
In 1960, she married Robert C. "Bob" Abbott, and they shared 57 years of marriage until his passing in 2018 while living in Harlingen, Texas.
While raising her family in Corpus Christi, she was a devoted mother who loved playing tennis and attending her children’s athletic events. In later years, she found great joy in watching birds, squirrels, and other wildlife at the feeders outside her home. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and friend, who maintained a strong and supportive relationship with her children throughout her life.
She is survived by:
* Son: William Curtis (Karolyn) Abbott
* Daughters: Michelle Abbott and Candace (Andrew) Beasom-Abbott
She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Allison Abbott, Ashley Abbott, Cody Beasom, Corey Beasom, Colby Beasom, Joby Rodriguez, Matthew Rodriguez, Ben Abbott, and Jennifer Abbott, as well as many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert C. Abbott; son, Robert C. Abbott Jr.; daughter-in-law, Dolly Abbott; sisters, Janice Cowden and Jerry Oberg; and her parents, Frances and Benny Haynes.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Morningside at Menger Springs – Kendall House in Boerne, Texas, for the compassionate care provided in her final months.
A Visitation for Judy will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta with a Prayer Service at 12:00 PM, and a Burial to follow at 1:00 PM at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
