Born: September 18, 1941
Passed away surrounded by her family at her home in Harlingen, Texas, on October 25, 2023
Wanda is from Lubbock, Texas, where she married Joe Edward Baker on June 14th 1959, together they started a family with three wonderful children. They moved to Harlingen, Texas, not long after Wanda’s parents, who moved there for medical reasons. Harlingen is where they continued their lives, raising their children and becoming active members of the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ.
Wanda retired from State Farm Insurance after more than twenty years and has enjoyed quality time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Joe traveled to many tourist destinations from California to Florida, the most memorable being the Grand Canyon and Nashville Tennessee. Traveling long distances wasn’t always the norm though, because they also enjoyed the many family camping trips, they took to places closer to home, like Mathis Lake or Garner State Park.
Some of Wanda’s other favorite pastimes were: sewing and quilting with her mother, Mary, cooking delicious meals, and playing Uno or Mexican Train with her family.
She is Survived by her husband of 64 memorable years, Joe Edward Baker - Brother, Johnny Ray Wells - Children, Pam Allen, Jay Baker (Maggie), Cherie Gardner (John) - Grandchildren, Amanda Lamas (Ernie), Johnathan Swanson (Nazareth), Bailie Guerrero (Jesse), Zachary Gardner and Justin Baker - Great Grandchildren, Jared Manning, Madison Lamas and Lillyana Guerrero and the many nieces and nephews who contributed so much joy to her life over the years.
