Anita was born in Lodi, New Jersey, the daughter of Italian immigrants, Anthony Del Greco and Theresa Brunetti. She was proud of her Italian American heritage and was a faithful Catholic. Anita grew up in New Jersey and during World War II, she worked at Wright Aeronautics, where engines for B-17 aircraft were made. Later, she met and married, Thomas J. Gallo, Jr. They lived in New Jersey and Buffalo, New York before moving with their four boys to Atlanta in 1966.
Anita was full of love and joy. She accepted people for who they were, giving them unconditional love and support. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, and aunt, and, most of all, a dear friend to many, many people. She made multiple generations of friends. She loved a good party and never missed an opportunity to dance, laugh, and smile with her family and friends. She was active socially throughout her life. Anita experienced all the joy, happiness, and sadness that a long life can bring. Throughout, she was relentlessly friendly, giving, and loving. She also had real grit and resilience when life demanded it.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Dori), Paul (Victoria), Ken (Susan) and Jim (Susan), and four grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth, Matthew, and Lindsay. She gave her boys, their spouses, and her grandchildren total love and acceptance. She was enormously proud of all of them.
She is predeceased by her husband of forty-five years, Tom, her four siblings (Mary (Luggiero), Michael, Albert, and Josephine (Guidetti)), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, several of whom were raised with her as if she were their sister. She also is predeceased by two grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Geoffrey and Lauren.
May her Lord wrap her in his arms and may her memory be a blessing.
