Barbara Fountain-Henderson passed peacefully, at age 87 on November 7, 2024, in the presence of her daughter Faith and in the care of loving people. Barbara was born and raised in FarRockaway, New York, where she shared many wonderful moments with her parents, Mae Gorelow (a Jewish immigrant from Latvia and who danced ballet) and her father Julius (Julie) Stern (who a Jewish immigrant from Poland and a craftsman), along with her only sibling Jerry Stern, who passed just last year.
Barbara was married to Bobbie Fountain, who she met at the age of 19, when she was a teller at a bank. A tall dark-haired man and the first love of her life. They married and moved to Hauppauge, NY, to build their life together. In 1978, Barbara and Bobbie moved their family to Atlanta, GA, where they remained till his passing in 1983. Barbara and Bobbie had two children Faith Fountain-Coombs and Thad Joseph Fountain. Faith resides in New Hampshire with her husband Arnold and their two grown boys and Thad resides in Jacksonville, NC with his wife, daughter, and son. Barbara retired from AT&T, after a long successful career, being given many accolades for her sales achievements. She worked hard and poured her enthusiasm and savviness into all she did.
Barbara met Wayne Henderson at Mount Paran Church. They fell in love, married, and lived in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Both gave of their time, during their retirement, working at Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport, where they ministered daily, to U.S. Troops coming and going from the airport. Hand-in-hand they did this for 15 years together. They had a beautiful marriage and traveled to various places enjoying time together. They loved to dance together, pray, and entertain.
After Wayne’s passing 6 years ago, Barbara was not going to stop with her passions ministering to people about God’s glory. She started Anointed Cloth Ministries, and every day Barbara would seek-out individuals, from all walks of life anywhere she could, in speaking about God and the many beautiful blessings in believing in the Lord’s grace. She would talk to each individual for as long as needed, in showing compassion, and in delivering God’s word. This was Barbara’s mission. She thrived on this, she was strengthened by doing so, and it gave her exhilaration to walk in the footsteps of the Lord. She couldn’t wait to tell someone about the wonderful day she had and how she was able to bring many to the Lord.
Barbara loved God most, her family, cats & dogs, going to the beach & buggy boarding in the waves, watching leaves fall from the trees, birds, and the occasional deer coming down the hill in her backyard, being in nature, dancing, and eating at her favorite restaurant Nori Nori. People would say, you are a strong-wise woman, Barbara; this she was.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Faith and husband Arnold, son Thad and his wife Cecie, her sister-in-law Lucille, along with her niece Susan and her daughters, Robert and Debbie Henderson, and her loving close and cherished long-time friends.
She will be missed!
May the Lord take her in his loving embrace!
