Born in Thomasville, GA, Ms. Malone attended Mercer University, Atlanta, GA in 1958 where she studied history, Christianity, French and English literature. She began her professional career in Atlanta and later New York City working as a traveling sales representative for home and gift wholesalers. Barbara continued her career in Guilford, Surrey, England and then Boston MA.
Upon returning to Atlanta in the 1970’s, Barbara established herself as a successful real estate agent with various companies. She was a founding member of the Jennie Pruitt agency and later an Associate Broker with Harry Norman Realtors. She believed the disposition or purchase of a house was more than a sales transaction. She went to great lengths to ensure the process was uniquely tailored to the needs and goals of her customer’s most important life investment. Her approach was both professional and personal garnering her respect, success, awards, and many personal and/or business friends.
On a personal level Barbara demonstrated a true sense of community wherever she lived. She loved history, horticulture and cooking. Her companion was her beloved West Highland Terrier, Annie.
Her father, Judson Malone Sr, mother Lorene Davis, sisters Rebecca Malone and Ann Moon preceded her in death.
She is survived by her brother Judson Malone residing in Georgetown DE, and her step brother Paul Davis and step sister, Linda Goodwin, residing in Chapin SC.
