Betty Vickers Mooney

Mrs. Betty Vickers Mooney of Sandy Springs died November 18, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin H. Mooney, Jr., her daughter Jennifer Mooney; Parents Avie Hightower Vickers and Jesse B. Vickers. Mrs. Mooney was raised in Valdosta, Georgia and was a 1949 graduate of the University of Georgia. She had a brief career with Bell South where she met her husband Melvin. A member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church in Sandy Springs, she served as Vice President of the Baptist Women’s Missionary Union of Georgia for 8 years, and as Camp Committee Chairman of Camp Pinnacle. Survivors include her daughter and son in law Karen and Brad Burkhart of Roswell; grandson Austin Burkhart and his wife Katie of Johns Creek, and sister Dale Meehan and 2 nephews and I niece. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 21, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Rev. Bryan Pillsbury will officiate. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to The WMU Foundation. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
