At an early age, he moved to Greenwood, SC. It was there that he discovered his love of flying and of airplanes. After graduating from high school, Bob went on to attend Auburn University where he earned a degree in aeronautical engineering. While at Auburn, he met his adoring wife, Sarah Lee Cross. They married soon after graduation in 1956. As newlyweds, they settled in Grand Prairie, TX where Bob began his career with Chance Vought. A few years later, the couple relocated to Atlanta, GA where Bob worked for Lockheed Martin for over 38 years. A brilliant engineer, Bob worked on contracts for the design of the C130 and the C5, in addition to other projects. He was known as an avid fisherman, a man who could fix or build anything, a deacon in his church, a loving husband, an amazing father, a cherished grandfather, and a faithful friend to so many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him over his 87 years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Louis Buchanan and is survived by his wife, Sarah Lee Cross Flint, daughters, Elizabeth Renfroe (Beryl) of Marietta; Susan Engle (Kevin) of Rosemary Beach, FL; son, Neil Flint (Michelle) of Cumming, grandchildren, Lauren Flint, Mary Renfroe, Jordan Engle and Carson Engle. He is also survived by cousins. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2 pm until 3 pm with a Funeral Service to be held at 3 pm at Sandy Springs Chapel. Committal Service will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. The family suggest contributions in Bob’s memory to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
