Constance Jones Floyd, known to her friends and family as Connie, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, January 17, 2025 at the age of 80. Connie was born in Thomasville GA on July 26 1945 to Bolling and Constance Jones III. She graduated from Thomasville High School and Mary Baldwin University with a major in Sociology. Shortly after graduating, Connie met her future husband, William Floyd, through mutual friends. They were married at All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta, GA on March 27, 1971. They settled just outside Atlanta in Sandy Springs.
Connie had a big heart and was committed to volunteering and raising money for a number of charity and community organizations. Most notably volunteering and raising money for Egleston Children's Hospital and the Atlanta History Center. Her family and friends proudly remember her chairing the Venetian themed Swan House Ball to raise money for the Atlanta History Center. Connie also dedicated a lot of her time and energy to political causes and campaigns. She enthusiastically worked for Saxby Chambliss’ senatorial campaign. The highlight of her efforts was meeting former president George W. Bush, former First Lady Laura Bush, and former Governor, presidential candidate and senator Mitt Romney.
In addition to all her volunteer work, Connie was an avid fitness buff. She was an instructor at Arden Zinn aerobics studio in the 80’s and knew her way around the weight room. Like her mother, Connie enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful collection of orchids. Most of all, she will be remembered for the many traditions she shared (including her amazing sun dried tomato dip at Thanksgiving and coconut pound cake at Christmas) and the care and warmth she brought to her family and friends.
Connie is survived by her children Bill and Rey Floyd and Blair and Ben Bleiman of Atlanta, GA; Her grandchildren Chase Floyd, Emma Bleiman and Grayson Bleiman of Atlanta GA. She is also survived by her siblings Bolling and Kathy Jones IV and Mike and Tracey Jones of Thomasville; as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be very dearly missed by all her family and friends.
She will rest peacefully at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A private family gathering was held to celebrate her life.
