Debra was born in Birmingham, AL in December of 1954. She grew up in the Baptist church where she enjoyed singing and learning the scriptures. As a young woman, she found her passion for organization and started her career in administration. She was working at the Medical University of Birmingham and met a young Pathology Assistant from South Carolina by the name of Ernest and fell in love. Debra and Ernest married in December 1982 and went on to live a 39 year (39 years & 9 months) marriage full of travel and adventure. Once married Ernest pastored a church in Birmingham with Debra right by his side. After spending the early years of their marriage in Birmingham, the couple moved to the nation's capital where they had their son, Jordan. From Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, and eventually settling in Georgia Debra was the glue to her little family and kept everyone on track. Everywhere she went she left the room brighter than it was when she entered.
In summer of 2020 Debra had a minor heart attack and made a full recovery, getting back to her ways of dancing around the kitchen and playing with the dogs. She had a short, tough battle with Cancer in 2022 which ultimately took her from us. Debra will be deeply missed by Ernest, Jordan, her many In-Laws, and the friends she encountered along her way.
Though we are in great sorrow and mourning we are comforted to know that her absence from us is her presence with God.
