Donald W. "Pete" Rolader

Long time Berkeley Lake resident, D.W. “Pete” Rolader, passed away June 1, 2011 at the age of 86. Pete was a fourth generation Atlanta native born on Moores Mill Road. He was a Buckhead Boy, North Fulton High School graduate, WWII veteran having served in Europe in the 9th Army Air Force, Emory Law School graduate, attorney, counselor, husband and father, grandfather, great-grandfather, devout Methodist, friend to all he met and lover of life. He was predeceased by his parents, Ivon C. and Buena H. Rolader, his wife, Jeanette Rolader and his brother, Ike Rolader. He is survived by his three children, Don (Susan) Rolader of Big Canoe, GA, Sally Rolader of Duluth, GA and Melanie (Tommy) Kleekamp of Marietta, GA: grandchildren Donny (Kelly) Rolader, of John’s Creek, GA, Katie (Matt) Smith, of Hoover, AL, Peter (Kelly) Watkins, of Jonesboro, GA and Christopher Watkins of Tamarindo, Costa Rica; great grandchildren Virginia and Allison Eith, Walker and Lauren Smith and Jancey Watkins, brother-in-law, Ben (Cynthia) Henderson of Canton, GA, dear friend, Joyce Porter of Alpharetta, GA and devoted care-giver, Jane Mwai. Pete founded and was the long term attorney for the Berkeley Lake Homeowners Association, former chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sardis United Methodist Church, founding member of the Board of Trustees of St. John United Methodist Church, founding Secretary of the Sandy Springs Rotary Club and former member of the Atlanta Bar Association and the Old Warhorse Lawyers’ Club. Pete practiced law in the Atlanta area for over 50 years Services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at I p.m., placed in state at 12 p.m., at St. John United Methodist Church 550 Mt. Paran Road, Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. John United Methodist Church 550 Mt. Paran Road, Atlanta, GA. or the Buckhead Heritage Society, 3180 Mathieson Drive, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30305.
