

Evelyn Nolen Conn, of Smyrna, Georgia, passed away on December 1, 2014 at the age of 97. Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Fay Nolen, Father, James L. Nolen, Brother J. Lowell Nolen, Husband, James Herman Conn, and Daughter, Sandra Gail Conn. She is survived by her Sister, Marie (Polly) and her husband Walter Sprouse, Son, Leland Conn, Daughter-in-law, Reba Conn, and Grandchildren, Amy Harley and her fiancée Mark Britt; and Jason Conn and his wife Beth. She is also survived by her Great Grandchildren, Skye Harley, Bailey and Reagan Conn. Born in Juliette, Georgia, Evelyn later moved to Bolton Georgia and then to the Hills Park Community in Northwest Atlanta. She married James Herman Conn in November of 1938. Evelyn was a proud and incredibly Strong member of America’s Greatest Generation. With two small children at home, she saw Herman off to Word War II to fight in the Philippines. She saw her son, Leland off to Vietnam in 1966. She joined Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in 1957 and was a devoted member and volunteer for over 50 years. Evelyn showed incredible compassion in the caring of Herman and Gail in the later stages of their lives. She lived independently at Delmar Gardens in Smyrna for the last several years. The family extends their highest regards to the caring staff and other residents at Delmar Gardens. One of Evelyn’s greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends, which always involved laughing and storytelling. The family extends sincere appreciation for the many prayers and expressions of concern, support, and compassion. The service will be Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 1pm in Mount Bethel United Methodist Church with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. The funeral services will be led by Dr. Randy Mickler. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Mount Bethel United Methodist church in her name. Arrangements under the direction of Sandy Springs Chapel, Sandy Springs, GA.
