Helen Dunbar

Helen Dunbar, age 85, of Atlanta, Georgia died Friday, February 4, 2011. A native of Atlanta, she was the daughter of Walter and Stephanie Palinski. Helen is survived by her husband, Dr. Walter S. Dunbar, Sr.; daughter, Melodie Dunbar and her husband Gary Lewis; sons, Rusty Dunbar, Mark R. Dunbar, M.D. and his wife Glenda, and Bruce Dunbar; grandchildren Kristen E. Dunbar, Amy L. Dunbar, Kaylin Dunbar, Bruce R. Dunbar, Jr., and Stephen Dunbar. She was predeceased by her son Curtis L. Dunbar. Helen was a registered nurse at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital during the Korean War volunteered for many organizations including Zoo Atlanta, League of Women Voters, community swim teams, Crawford Long Women’s Auxillary, and Girl Scouts She enjoyed tennis and league bowling and was a member of the Gombé Society. The family will receive friends Monday, February 7, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. A Funeral Service will be Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Funeral Service. Interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Zoo Atlanta.
