

Born on August 15, 1961, in Charlotte, North Carolina, John lived a life defined by loyalty, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Donna Coleman of Chicago, Illinois, and his father, William Coleman of Boston, Massachusetts.
John spent his early years in College Park, Georgia, where he attended high school before settling in Gwinnett County. Most recently, he made his home in Peachtree Corners, a community he loved and where he formed lasting connections.
For 43 years, John was the devoted husband of Melissa “Lisa” Coleman, the love of his life and his steady partner in all things. Together, they built a life rich in love and family. John was the proud father of Ashley Walker, Brittany Wiseman, and Jared Coleman, and considered his sons in law, Michael Walker and Branton Wiseman, to be his own. His grandchildren – Logan Walker, Harrison Walker Andrew Walker, Norah Wiseman and Claire Wiseman – were the great joys of his life.
John is also survived by his brother, Robert “Bobby” Coleman, and sister-in-law, Vickie Coleman.
John’s professional path was rooted in the furniture industry, where he earned deep respect as a colleague, mentor, and friend. He began his career at Levitz Furniture and later spent more than 25 years with Rooms To Go. Known for his dependability, patience, and hands-on expertise, John built a reputation as someone who could be counted on – both professionally and personally.
Those who knew John will remember him as loyal, hardworking, and endlessly selfless. He was a true family man, a loving husband and grandfather, and a patient, steady presence. An avid hunter and a gifted “fix it” man, John took pride in using his hands, solving problems, and quietly helping others however he could.
Above all, John’s life was marked by generosity, devotion, and a deep love for the people around him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friends he supported, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
A viewing will be held Monday, January 26, 2026 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA 30328. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 10:00am at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. Interment is private.
