Lt. Col. Laurens A. Hamilton Jr.

Mr. Laurens A. Hamilton, Jr., age 90 of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015. He was born on July 21, 1924 in Liberty, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Laurens A. Hamilton, Sr. and Alta Callaham Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was a United States Veteran, having been a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Air Force, and also a retired design engineer from Lockheed. Mr. Hamilton is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Sheila H. Downing and Larry of LaVergne, Tennessee and Carol H. Crawford and Jim of Cedartown, Georgia; grandchildren, Jennifer Ellis, Kristine Jackson, Carrie Downing, Lauren Saxton and Randy Downing; step grandchildren, Duston Crawford and Desiray Abernathy and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Hamilton is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Anderson Hamilton and son, Laurens A. Hamilton, III. The family will be receiving friends from two o’clock in the afternoon until the funeral hour on Tuesday July 14, 2015, at the Sandy Springs Chapel in Sandy Springs, Ga. The funeral arrangements for Mr. Hamilton will also be conducted on Tuesday, July 14, 2105 at three o’clock in the afternoon at the Sandy Springs Chapel in Sandy Springs, Georgia with Rev. Jerome Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, 201 Mount Vernon Highway, NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
