

Melvin “Mel” G. Browning, 98, died peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at his home in St. George Village, located in Roswell, GA. He graduated from Detroit Institute of Technology in 1952, was a Certified Public Accountant and served in the US Army. Mel was passionate about and served many organizations throughout his lifetime including: Kiwanis, VFW, Gold Shield Foundation, Metro Atlanta Police Emerald Society and was very involved in his home parish, St. Jude the Apostle in Sandy Springs, GA.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen T. Browning (nee O’Sullivan), and their eldest son, Charles “Chuck” R. Browning.
Mel is survived by his sister Marilyn (Gary) Gass of Muskego, WI; his children: Thomas (Karen) Browning of Roswell, GA; Judith Dailey of Gainesville, GA; Nancy (William) Ware of Fayetteville, GA; and Chuck’s partner Mari Bolt of Lansing, MI. His eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Seth) Conner of Lilburn, GA; Ryan Browning of Reno, NV; Sarah Dailey (Collin Eicke) of Austin, TX; Jason (Chana) Browning of Lansing, MI; Christina Dailey of Nashville, TN; Emily (Michael) Karafotias of Roswell, GA; Kimberly Ware of Fayetteville, GA; and Megan (Matt) Worthan of Tallahassee, FL. As well as, his seven great-grandchildren: Louisa & Bennett Conner; Corinne & Lila Karafotias; Charlie Browning; and Wells & Emory Eicke. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 10:30am at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church located 11330 Woodstock Road, Roswell, GA 30075. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA.
