

Robert Townsend Voyles, Sr., 83, of Sandy Springs, GA passed away Friday, March 19, 2010 in the presence of his loving family. Born in Atlanta, GA on August 4, 1926, to mother Addie Townsend Voyles and father James Homer Voyles, Sr. and spend his entire life in the Atlanta area. He graduated from Georgia Tech in Industrial Engineering and was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. H was also a USAF veteran. He was preceded in death by brother, James H. Voyles, Jr and sister, Margurite Carteron. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Voyles; daughter, Vicki Voyles of Athens, GA; son, Robert T. Voyles (Anne) of Roswell, GA; grandsons, Justin R. Voyles and Kevin B. Voyles of Roswell; brother-in-law and sister, Paul M. & June R. Flood of Cumming, GA; brother, John E. Voyles of Monticello, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a management consultant for 40 years during which time he was also the owner of a dairy farm and sat on the Board of Directors at Miss Georgia Dairies. He loved flying his Cessna Skylane 182, which he fondly called “Sugar”, for business and pleasure. He was also an avid supporter of Georgia Tech Football and attended all games with Betty until declining in health curtailed his attendance. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was a life-long Mason and Master of his Lodge. He will be sorely missed by family, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 22, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 1000 Center Place, Norcross, GA 30093.
