Born on October 12, 1932, in Boliver, Missouri, Bob moved with his family to California at a young age. After brief stays in Brawley and Goleta, the family settled in Ojai when Bob was around 10. He graduated from Nordhoff High School and later attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles, preparing for a life of service, both professionally and personally.
Bob served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. During that time, he married the love of his life, Peggy Clark, on November 6, 1955. Together, they built a life grounded in love, faith, and community. Their marriage of 69 years was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Peggy, his sister Charlotte, his three daughters – Linda, Janet, and Bobbie – whom he cherished deeply. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren – Russell, Melissa, Keri, Thomas, Alexis, and Samantha – and a joyful great-grandparent to Brynley, Jase, Gabriela, and Rex.
Professionally, Bob dedicated more than six decades to serving clients as a self-employed Certified Public Accountant in Santa Paula. His deep integrity and dedication earned him the trust of generations of families and businesses.
Beyond his work, Bob gave tirelessly to his community. He was President of the Santa Paula Lions Club (1966-1967) and remained an active member throughout his life. He served on the local school board (1972-1974), was a member of the Rotary Club, and held key positions with the Housing Authority, Santa Clara River Valley Hospice (as Treasurer), the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce (as President and member), and was the City Treasurer for a short time.
A man of unwavering faith, Bob was a longtime member of the Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon, elder, and treasurer over the years. His leadership and compassion enriched the lives of many in the congregation and beyond.
Outside of work and service, Bob embraced life fully. He loved snow skiing, waterskiing, and played softball for many years, staying active and adventurous well into his later years. His energy, sense of fun, and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Bob Russell will be remembered for his steadfast love for his family, his humble service, and his quiet strength. His legacy of kindness, honesty, and devotion will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
