Glenda Simpson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away the morning of Monday, July 15, 2024 at the age of 77 in Fillmore, California. She was born and raised June 28, 1947 in Santa Monica, California. Glenda was the eldest daughter of Hilda and Glenn Reynolds. Glenda's only and younger sister, Betty Garcia, passed away April 9, 2018. Glenda's life was full of love, laughter, and cherished moments shared with family. While our grief weighs heavily upon us, we find comfort in knowing that Glenda is at peace, and is reunited with our loved ones.
Glenda married in 1966. She was very close with her in-laws, Betty and Carl Moore. They shared many travels, laughs, and memories. Unfortunately, Carl Moore passed away in 2002 and Betty passed away in 2018. They were loved unconditionally. From there Glenda had two children, Andrew "Toby" Moore, born July 8, 1968 and Deborah "Debi" Ann-Marie Moore, born October 20, 1972, who were both born in Santa Monica, California. They then moved to San Bernardino where Glenda was a San Bernardino County Clerk and Teacher's Aide at Parkside Elementary School during the 70's. She always loved helping and being around children. Glenda was married for 18 years then divorced in 1984.
Following her divorce, Glenda moved to Crestline, California and she absolutely loved living in the mountains. She loved anything to do outdoors; such as hiking, rock-climbing, camping, and sightseeing. She also worked at the Snow Valley Ski Resort for awhile. In the 90's, Glenda moved to Santa Paula, California where her daughter, Debi was expecting her first child. During this time, she was working as a courtesy clerk at Vons in Fillmore where she worked for around 10 years. She had been given the opportunity to advance in her career but she was torn. Glenda wanted to be as close to her children and grandchildren as possible so she ended up not advancing in her career, but chose the best job possible, becoming our grandmother. This led her to move to Fillmore, California to live with her daughter Debi and her family, where she lived downstairs in her own apartment which was perfect for her to be close to everyone. Glenda resided here in Fillmore and Santa Paula for about 33 years. Over the last six years of her life, she lived with her son Toby, and grandson, Joshua. Her love for her family was so strong and unconditional. There wasn't a better word for her other than loving.
Around 1980, her father, Glenn Reynolds passed away. Over the years, her mother, Hilda Reynolds, was growing older with age and needed more help. Glenda would commute back and forth between Fillmore and Thousand Oaks where her mother was living, and actively helped until her mother's last breath. Hilda Reynolds passed away in her home in 2004. Glenda was one of two daughters. Betty Garcia was her younger sister born in 1951. They loved doing everything together, just like sisters should. Unfortunately, Betty was having health issues a awhile and wasn't improving. So Glenda moved back home again to take care of her sister where they faced may battles, but ultimately Heaven won. Her sister, Betty Garcia, passed away April 9, 2018. Glenda held her mother, father, and sister so close to her heart, we're at peace now knowing that she is with them again.
Oh, how she loved her fur babies. She loved her pets just as much as us, maybe even more sometimes! We had some stray kittens in our yard and they loved grandmas so much they never left! From there, I named them Tiger, Munchie, Scaredy, and Cutie. She loved them so much and lived there for about 17 years before we moved. Even after we moved, she would still go by the house and feed her kitties. They would know it was her coming by the sound of her care so when she parked, they would run up to her! There was also Saturn and Bonehead, who lived indoors with her and her son, where she was staying the last couple of years before she passed away. These are the most important "kitty cats" in her life. Then, there was Bandit, Toby's little dog; Babydog, Abby's little dog; Dallas, Steve's beautiful dog; and then she called them the "three crazy dogs;" Misty, Easy, and Milo, which is certainly true! Then, a little before she passed, Toby had adopted a little chihuahua whom he named, Milo. She certainly loved animals and seeing the ones in her window definitely made her day, including hummingbirds! I know that she's with our pets that have passed away and is playing with them until we get there.
Glenda was so many things, it's hard to describe her. She loved being a mother to her children as hard as it was at times, but always loved them unconditionally. She loved being our grandma! She was loving, funny, caring, smart, beautiful, selfless, kind, and always a little sarcastic with humor. She was always the kind of grandma everyone would love and want because she was our one in a million. She loved her family so much, always wanting everybody to be safe and happy. She would do anything us grandchildren would want, such as coloring, painting, cooking, baking (especially if she'd get to lick the bowl clean!), walking, swimming, playing dress up, and gosh so much more. She was the life of the party! She loved to sing and dance to the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Journey, BeeGees, and all music! Even when she was sick sometimes she'd start singing and dancing to put a smile on our faces. Those were some of our favorite visits with her, when she would dance, laugh, joke, and sing. She was irreplaceable. Our hearts are heavy for now, but grief is the price we pay for love.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Garcia; her in-laws, Betty and Carl Moore; her parents, Glen and Hilda Reynolds; Hilda's parents, Mertsa and Robert Patton, who had 8 children: Hilda, Phil, Catherine, Dorothy, Kaye, Faye, Roberta, and Irene Patton; Glen's parents, Ida and Marsh Reynolds, who had two boys, Glen and Harold Reynolds. Glenda is survived by her 2 children, Andrew "Toby" Moore and Deborah "Debi" Ann Marie Sanchez and her husband, Steve. Her 6 grandchildren, Nicole Kingsley and her husband David, Steven Sanchez, Joshua Moore, Abby Zelenka and her husband, Joey. Her 5 great-grandchildren, Marcus, Aurelia, Theo Kingsley, Phoenix, and Bellamie Sanchez. Along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, Jeni, Andy, Amanda, Amber, and Johnny "Mingo."
Though she may no longer be here with us, Glenda's spirit will forever be etched in our hearts, a simple reminder of the love and grace that she has blessed us with. Let us find comfort in the memories we shared with her and the love that will remain for eternity. We will be having a service at Funeraria Del Angel in Santa Paula, California, 93060 on Saturday, August 31st, 2024 at 1pm.
