With great love and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Susan Kathleen Keighley, age 47, on Monday, August 18, 2025. A bright spirit with a creative soul, Susan touched the lives of many through her kindness, resilience, and unwavering joy in life's simple pleasures.
Born in 1977 to the late Mike and Joyce Morgan, Susan spent her early years as a dedicated student and a passionate participant in the 4-H program. She raised and cared for numerous animals, proudly presenting them at the fair, a tradition that reflected her nurturing heart and work ethic from a young age. She made the Honor Roll consistently through junior high and high school, and one of her proudest early achievements was running a 5-minute mile in junior high, showcasing the athleticism she was known for before health challenges emerged later in life.
A lover of words and creativity, Susan kept a diary throughout her life and developed a talent for calligraphy and cross-stitching. Her hands were rarely still, whether she was crafting intricate patterns with needle and thread or penning graceful letters on paper. These hobbies were a quiet but powerful reflection of her patience, artistry, and attention to detail.
She also had a great love of reading and would happily spend hours lost in books or watching her favorite movies, The Little Mermaid held a special place in her heart and was often playing in the background. While she preferred the charm of Disney rides to the thrill of big roller coasters, she never shied away from a good adventure, especially when it involved travel or making memories with loved ones.
Despite her health struggles, Susan never allowed them to define her. She met each challenge with determination and optimism, always seeking solutions and staying active. She particularly enjoyed riding the train and became a go-to resource for friends and family who needed help navigating commuting routes. She always found joy in helping others get to where they needed to be.
Susan’s love extended deeply to her family. She cherished cooking for her husband, Scott Keighley, with whom she shared not only a strong bond but also a love of sports and travel. Together, they were season ticket holders for the Los Angeles Kings and proudly attended both Stanley Cup championship games in person. Susan was also a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys, cheering them on with enthusiasm every season.
In July 2025, Susan fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling to Ireland, a trip she treasured as one of the greatest experiences of her life.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Scott Keighley, and her beloved stepsons and their wives: Chad and Lisa Keighley, Scott Keighley Jr. and Brianne Keighley. She was a proud grandmother to Owen, Cole, Liam, and especially her precious granddaughter Paige. She is also survived by her devoted sisters, Shelly Morgan, and Michele Breitzman and her husband Dave, along with her cherished nephews Gavin and Nevin. Susan deeply valued her extended family, including Elena DeSoto and her family, who brought joy and connection into her life.
Susan’s warmth, wit, and gentle strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of resilience, creativity, and love lives on in those she leaves behind.
