

Ventura Ramirez Prado, “Papa”, age 90, of Ventura, California, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, Ventura was the heart of his family and a light in every room he entered.
Born in Santa Paula, California on July 27, 1935, Ventura was a proud Army veteran who served his country with honor. After his military service, he dedicated over 30 years as a custodian supervisor at the Ventura County Government Center, where he was known for his strong work ethic and warm spirit.
Ventura was a gifted painter who found joy in sharing his love of art with his grandchildren, teaching them to create with vibrant colors and open hearts. He cherished fishing trips to the mountains of Mammoth, California, and never missed a chance to tell a good story-especially about the one that got away. His laughter and tales were legendary among family and friends.
He especially loved attending his high school reunions in Santa Paula, reconnecting with old friends and celebrating the community that shaped him.
Ventura is survived by his two children, Cecilia Leon (Gabriel) and Edward Prado (Lorraine); his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Natalia, as well as seven sisters and two brothers.
His legacy of love, creativity, and storytelling lives on in all who knew him.
Memorial Service will be on October 23, 2025 at 9am at Funeraria Del Angel 128 S 8th St, Santa Paula, CA 93060. Cemetery burial will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery, 380 Cemetery Rd, Santa Paula, CA 93060.
