He loved talking aout his adventures in the pine trees, Amongst the mad Russians and Alaskan drunks ...The crew in Brazil and of course St.Jude. Steve was the Best Man at our wedding in Bundaberg and we always enjoyed his hilarious banter ...Sold him a car...Had some laughs...We were born in the same year...I was at the November end : )

Met Steve...(I called him 'Goob') in Bundaberg Australia 2007 just after he sailed St. Jude over from the West Coast. Our boat was 'on the hard' when he was living on and fixing St Jude. Well now I know why ya not answering my emails mate : ) 
We shared many funny times and emails and stories back and forth over the pond when he was working in Alaska and off Brazil. I have some great photos I'll post here from Australia. Last time I saw him was just after he sank StJude...We actually sold him a little Toyota Echo around 2008...Being as big as he was he looked very funny getting out of it. And all the emails I sent I'd ask him if he got off that San andreas Fault yet!!  Yatch up with ya down the track Goob....

Over the years of laughter and tears, sadness and love, adventures and comfort, you were always in my heart and always will be.  Thank you for the memories, too many to post.

Am very sorry for your lost. He was my very goodfriend we worked together  in brasil some where back in 2012

"Bear" was a particularly close friend of my husband, Howard Hansen. Bear called him to check in, find out how Howie was, ask advice, tell him a story, laugh. Bear emailed from all over the world, and Howie would send the emails to my computer so I could get an awed amazement out of Bear's latest adventure told in highly original story fashion. Since Howard's passing 3 years ago, Bear has continued to call to say hi, cheer me up, tell me a tale...lend me a wisdom or so. One I wrote down a year or so ago and have kept beside the laptop to remind me is:  "SLOW AHEAD EASY, AND WATCH THE WABBITS WIZZ BY."  and then he laughed of course with his deep seal lion chuckle.  Gonna miss those phone calls, Bear.
