She was the daughter of the late Floyd Ray and Lillian Frances Van Winkle Goodpaster. Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Gray, Mobile, AL; Son Robert William Gray, Saraland, AL; daughter in law Heather Abner Gray, Granddaughters Brianna Hanson and Jocelyn Alise Gray and a sister, Helen Fortune Goodpaster Rogers, Sacramento, CA.
Preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Ray Goodpaster Jr., his wife Ruth Griffith Goodpaster, two sisters Mary Jane Goodpaster Bowling and Linda Lucretia Goodpaster Clarke; and a great niece Audrey Mae Bowling Bittinger. Survivors also include nephews Bobby Akers, Mike Tejeda (Wanda), Bobby Musto,
Larry Wayne Estes (Kelly), Martin Robertson, and nieces Deborah Frances Goodpaster, Anna Carol Tingler and Lisa Marlene Santilian, Destiny Clarke, as well as many great nephews and nieces, and great great nephews and nieces.
Barbara graduated from Henry Clay High School, Lexington, Kentucky in 1961, then worked at the University of Kentucky for close to fifteen years. Last position held there was Payroll Manager of the University Hospital. She married a Navy career man, Robert, and they moved to Orlando, Florida where he was transferred. After three years there, he was transferred to Little Creek, Virginia so they spent three years there. Barbara was Ombudsman of her husband's ship, the USSEdenton. When Barbara's husband was transferred to Kings Bay, Georgia, they moved there. They lived there 17 years before moving to Alabama.
The family will receive friends on Monday February 22, 2021 from 8:30Am until 9:30AM at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, AL. Graveside services will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery on Snow Road, Mobile, AL. on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 10AM.
