November 10, 1949 in Mobile, Alabama to Florence Kelly Gibson and Cater M. Gibson, Sr.
Cater was an active member of Georgetown Assembly of God. In his younger years, he was a
member of the Alabama Army National Guard, where he became an Airborne Ranger and Green Beret.
He was a retiree of International Paper Company, maintenance department. He was an avid hunter and
fisherman and had a passion for working with his hands, especially sewing and using his wood lathe.
Cater is survived by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Darlene M. Gibson;
his son Bryan Gibson Sr.(Valerie); his daughters, Kaylene Gibson LeMar(Jason) and Katie Gibson(Britton Hall) ;
his grandsons, Bryan Jr., Brandan, Conner, Cooper and Sawyer; brother, Darrell W. Gibson;
sister, Darnell G. Hollingsworth(John); his brothers in law, Bill Moberg and
James Richard(Ricky) Phillips.
Cater was preceded in death by his father, Cater M. Gibson, Sr., his mother, Florence Kelly Gibson and brother, James J. Gibson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, AL 36571.
A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Georgetown Assembly of God, 9436 Wilmer Georgetown Rd, Wilmer, AL 36587. Interment will follow at Valhalla Cemetery, 8730 Sims Rd. Eight Mile, Al 36613. Pastor Scott Crooms will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Boles, Robert Moore, Bryan Gibson Jr., Brandan Gibson, Conner Prine and Cooper Prine.
