

Edythe "Ted" Smith Carlisle - a 92 year-old native of Dickson, TN, longtime resident of Birmingham, AL and a resident of the Mobile, AL area for the past 20 years passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late Fiddlin' Arthur Smith (of Grand Ole' Opry fame) and Nettie Smith. Mrs. Carlisle was a graduate of Jefferson State Community College where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. A member of a very musical family, she was a noted pianist and sang in the Sweet Adelines in Birmingham for many years. She was also a noted bridge player in Birmingham and Mobile. She was a lifetime member of Huffman Baptist Church in Birmingham and College Park Baptist Church in Eight Mile, AL.
Mrs. Carlisle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Frank Carlisle, Jr. She is survived by her son, Gary M. Carlisle (Robyn); 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great, great-grandchildren; 6 siblings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, AL on Sunday, November 17, 2013, from 3-6 p.m. Visitaton will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, from 11a.m. until 2 p.m. Graveside services and interment will follow in Chalkville Baptist Cemetery (formerly New Prospect Cemetery) in Chalkville, AL at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-saraland.com.
