

Gregory M. Jackson, a 63 year old native of Mobile and longtime resident of Saraland, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 23, 2017. Known to many people as many things, Greg was a family man, a river rat and a patriot. He was a drinking buddy, a devil dog, a faithful friend and trusted neighbor. Greg was a devout husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He lived life to the fullest and made a memorable impression on all that crossed his path. He will be sorely missed. A United States Marine Corps Vet, Greg Jackson remained throughout his life semper fidelis (always faithful). After his service in the Marines, he worked at Alcoa as a machinist and retired after 25 years of service. In retirement he loved cheering on the Crimson Tide and watching NASCAR races, but could also be found fishing with his grandson or attending his granddaughter’s “tea parties”. He was an excellent cook, known for his homemade beef jerky and many ways of preparing fresh fish. He was also known for sharing the best home grown tomatoes and satsumas around. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, J. C. and Mildred Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Jackson, children; Stephen Jackson, Melissa Jackson Jemison (Tyler) and Chad Jackson (Ling). He is also survived by his sister, Pamela “Pandi” Bennett (David), three grandchildren; Matthew Robinson, Sydney Jemison , Emma Jemison; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Marine Corps League Inc. #447, 1956 S.
