Guy Edward Avera – Born November 15, 1944 in Mobile, AL died Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in a local hospital. He retired from Alabama Power at Barry Steam Plant after 30 years of service and was a member of Destination Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Avera, Sr.; former wife, Melba Avera; and brother, Jacob Avera. He is survived by his wife, Melonie Avera; his mother, Ruby Davidson; sister, Cindy Wood; two daughters, Leslie and Mandy; stepchildren, Rachael and Michael; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
