James Ray Taylor, 71, of Chunchula entered into rest Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Oak Grove Chapel, Saraland. Interment will follow at Georgetown United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Mark Messick will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland.
Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served 35 years with the Mobile Police Department where he retired as a Captain. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Buxton.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diana Taylor of Chunchula, four children, Darrell (Cherie) Taylor of Mobile, Mark Taylor of Mobile, Ashley (Derrick) Wearmouth of Chunchula, and Chad (Danielle) Buxton of Mobile, four brothers, seven grandchildren, Derrell Taylor, Jr., Leanna Taylor, Brooke Taylor, Jalen Taylor, Makai Taylor, Emilee Buxton, and Ben Buxton, and five great-grandchildren.
